MISCELLANIA

We're running a short issue this time for a couple of reasons. The first one is fairly obvious: let you members know the steamup has been postponed.

But we are also trying to catch up with ourselves. From now on REPORT will hopefully come out the last week of the proceeding month. If all goes well, you should be getting your next (September) issue before the end of August.

This obviously is going to necessitate the establishment of some rather rigid deadlines for contributions and news. ALL items must be into either Jerry Windle or John Hathaway by the 24th of the proceeding month for guaranteed inclusion.. This goes for work party schedules, excursion dates, all Association activities, and all other contributions.

With this earlier deadline and mailing of the REPORT hopefully we can let all of you know enough time in advance of Association and other rail oriented activities so you can participate if you so desire.

The REPORT staff is looking for one or two evenings a month usage of a GOOD electric typewriter equipped with a carbon ribbon (such as an IBM Selectric). Right now we are using a Smith-Corona portable electric with a jury-rigged carbon ribbon and while this is an improvement over the usual cloth or nylon ribbon it leaves a lot to be desired!

So if you know of such a machine that could be used by John Hathaway one or two evenings a month for the final draft of REPORT, how about giving him a call at 286-6431 during the day or 283-5195 evenings.

REPORT Classifieds are still available to those who desire them. This is a very inexpensive opportunity for you to reach a majority of the active railfans in the San Diego area as well as helping to improve the REPORT. The money from these classified ads does go into the REPORT fund and will hopefully allow us to expand our format and include more pictures each month.

The rates are very reasonable, with a base price of $1.00 for the first twenty words; your name and address are free. Additional words are only 5¢ each.

All classifieds should be sent to:

REPORT Editor Jerry Windle, 8465 Dallas, La Mesa, California, 92041.

The deadline for classifieds is the 24th of the proceeding month.
